Let's Begin - Intro to The Oil Cleansing Method (OCM)

Do you want dewy, supple, healthy, glowing skin like you see on the models in the magazines? Have you tried product after product, each time hoping that the advertiser's claims would come true? Advertisements placed in the same said magazines, promising you healthy skin by "ridding you of unwanted oils."

So you "deep clean" with harsh (and often expensive) chemicals, stripping the alleged "unwanted" oils from your skin. Next, you are told you need to "replenish and moisturize." Which is true, as your skin is now unbalanced and dried out. Do this routine enough times (or is you are like how I was, you will OVERDO this routine) until your skin is so unbalanced it just wigs out and tada, you have now created worsened skin problems than you even began with.

Does this sound familiar? Are you caught in the cycle created by the mulit-billion dollar beauty industry?

Do you want out?

Do you, once and for all, want dewy, supple, healthy, glowing skin like most humans are BORN with? Are you ready to allow your beauty to emerge?

And that last question is a crucial one. I, being one of the extraordinary ones, lived with acne for over twenty years. And this condition was two-fold for me. First, I was hyper-focussed on my acne (and my appearance) in a negative way. Secondly, I used this negative focus as a means of expressing my self-hatred. I believe my acne was started with self-hatred and then my self-hatred continued (and was exacerbated and worsened) by my acne. And then my acne was exacerbated and worsened by my further plummeting self-esteem...etc.

I know I wanted out of that cycle, but I didn't know how to get out. If I stopped using products my face worsened. At least it seemed like the products was keeping everything at bay. Or so I thought. When in reality, my skin was actually getting worse. But I was hopeless and didn't know what to do.

Now I'm not saying or implying that all skin problems arise from self-hatred. But I can say with assurance that they are caused by an Imbalance.

And I do need to mention the possibility that if a person has not or can not resolve their energetic imbalance within (and/or feelings of unworthiness) the oil cleansing method may not work for them. But it may. But if it doesn't they will probably jump back into the "cycle" of using harsh synthetic chemicals on their precious, delicate skin. And I really don't want that.

I am asking that people give the oil cleansing method (OCM) a fair chance. Play around with it, just like you did with all the other methods you were willing to spend your money, time and energy on. All the hours reading articles, scouring the internet, asking friends, perusing the aisles of the drug store and beauty supply stores. All the expensive facials, prescription drugs, dermatology appointments and possibly even surgery. None of that worked and yet you didn't give up on trying them.

So give OCM a chance. Give it as a big of a chance as you gave all the harmful alternatives.

You may not get just the right formula for you right off the bat. (Or you may. I was pretty lazy with it and it still came to me pretty intuitively just by FEELING how my skin was responding.) But give it a chance. And hopefully people will offer feedback in the comments as to what worked for them by using different oils for different skin types.

Let's find a natural solution that will allow for your healthy skin to emerge, once and for all, where FINALLY, you can live in JOY for who you are and REVEL in your own unique beauty.

New Possibilities using OCM (Oil cleaning method)

Using the oil cleaning method has been effective for some people in:

-Clearing acne
-Reducing or eliminating wrinkles
-Healing melasma
-Reducing freckles
-Enhancing one's beauty

Your Personal Oil Blend

Some of the healthiest oils for external skin care use include:

sweet almond oil
avocado oil
castor oil
UNREFINED coconut oil
hemp seed oil
jojoba oil
extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
rosehip seed oil
shea butter
walnut oil
grapeseed oil

wild rose oil for brightening

Possible Oil Blends
What you want to do is find the best, personal blend for YOU.

Apparently, Castor oil is the most potent of the oils, and can also be the most drying. I also found certain olive oils can be very drying. So if your skin feels too dry, try lessening the amount of these oils.

Possible blends to start out with might be

Oily Skin: Try a blend of 30% Castor Oil, 70% Sunflower Seed Oil.
Balanced Skin: Try a blend of 20% Castor Oil, 80% Sunflower Seed Oil.
Dry Skin: Try a blend of 10% Castor Oil, 90% Sunflower Seed Oil.

Or another example for Balanced Skin might be: 20% Castor Oil, 40% EVOO, 40% Jojoba Oil.

You get the idea. Experiment. Find what works best for you.

I'm going to be honest though. I can be a little lazy. When I firsted started this I used only extra virgin olive oil. First my skin was oily (initial phase) and then it started feeling dried out.

Being the lazy person that I am, since I already had a massage oil in my house with a mix of sweet almond, safflower, and a couple of other oils (no other random ingredients or chemicals, just oils and maybe lavender)--- I used that mixed with castor oil. (About 80% castor oil and 20% of the mixed massage oil). It worked beautifully. If you don't want to muss and fuss then maybe just start out with one oil and see how it works for you.

Then once I got to the maintenance level I started using Castille soap. Some Castille soaps are 100% olive oil. I am currently using Dr. Bronner's. But on my face I just the TINIEST drop and then suds it up in my hands and then wash my face with it. Otherwise this too, can be too drying.

If my face does get too dry I moisturize with a Tiny bit of coconut oil or jojoba oil. You just need to find what works for you. There are also plenty of moisturizers made mostly from just oils.

I know some people swear by using coconut oil as a cleanser. After a nice hot shower, when the face is damp just use two drops of coconut oil in your hands before gently patting your face with it. Used sparingly and diluted, this can be an awesome maintanence for skin once it clears up. I don't know that coconut oil will work in the beginning to pull all the old toxins like some of the hardcore oils like castor oil and EVOO.

The Oil Cleansing Method

The best and fastest way to get results with the oil cleaning method is to apply your chosen oils, or blend of oils and then vigorously massage your skin on a daily basis. (It is probably best to do this deep cleansing at night before bed. Then in the morning, skip the vigorous massaging and do a light maintenance wash with a few drops of oil (or Castille soap) as described earlier on.) Once your skin starts healing, you can reduce the amount of times per week that you need to do the vigourous rubbing. But in the beginning I did it almost every night.

Begin by pouring a generous amount of your oil blend into your palm. Next, slather the oil all over your face. Then, using slow, firm motions start vigorously massaging your skin. And by saying vigorous massaging, I mean using the tips of your fingertips to repeatedly, over and over, in a circular motion, go over the areas of your face with quite a strong motion. The oil will begin working into your pores to dissolve blackheads, white heads and hard nodules.

This vigorous massaging forces a clear, new skin to emerge. (Obviously don't tug and pull at your skin and be careful around the eyes.) While you are vigorously massaging, breathe deeply and keep your mind pleasant with positive thoughts. This was easy for me because I just intuitively knew this was working for me. So I felt amazed and excited and pleased about the whole process. I knew I was that much closer to my beautiful new face. Picture what your beautiful new face and imagine what it would look like if it were completely clear and healthy. Focus on that image and trust, believe and know that it is attainable. Allow it to come to fruition. Focus on your perfect, beautiful skin and breathe deeply.

Continue each night with the vigorous massaging ritual until your skin clears and you reach maintenance level.

Once you reach maintenance level you can massage your face gently, using the oil sparingly. But in the initial phases, vigorous massage is what you want and has been beneficial for the many who have tried it.

You will see clearly noticeable results in a matter of weeks and with even more improvement over time, depending on how vigorously you have been able to make it.

This treatment completely rid me of acne, pronounced scars and discolorations as well as permanently cured my many other skin imperfections. If you persevere with this method you will eventually get a totally flawless skin. It will also allow a radiant, glowing skin to come into being that had been waiting all along to emerge. This process also tightens and rejuvenates the entire face, rejuvenating a youthful appearance.

I did the "vigorous massaging" only in my initial phase of my OCM program and I started with solely extra virgin olive oil and then moved to castor oil, neither of which are costly.

In fact, in comparison to what you probably were spending on your skin care routine, treatments and experiments, OCM will save you A LOT of money. AND YOU WILL HAVE BEAUTIFUL, GLOWING SKIN. People will begin COMPLIMENTING you on your appearance.

After vigorous massaging, steam your face with a wash cloth. Do not forget this step. You want to remove all the dirt and clog poring residue left on your face or you will just end up with clogged pores. Which is not what we're going for here.

Soak your washcloth in steamy, warm water. Not too hot, but just enough so that it will open your pores and remove the oil. If the water is too cool it will not do either of these two things efficiently. If it is too hot, it will scald you. Think steamy, like a luxurious facial.

Allow the washcloth to cover your face and keep it there until it cools. Allow your pores to release the impurities. Once the washcloth has cooled, wipe the oil gently away and rinse the washcloth well in hot, running water. When steamy, hold the washcloth to your face again, again allowing it to cool. Again wipe the oil gently away. Rinse the cloth well. Repeat two or three more times.

Do not scrub with the wash cloth. We have already vigorously massaged and that helped to exfoliate the skin. Just steam and dream, baby.

The steamy washcloth should have removed most all of the oil. Also, if using Castor Oil, even though it is an oil, it helps greatly to remove the other oils. The castor oil is then easily removed by the warm water.

Pat your face dry. Your skin should now glow and feel renewed.

Obtacles and Resistance to OCM

WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER

I'm sorry. You're not going to want to hear what I say next--- but sometimes things may get a little worse before they get better. I know for me, the first time I cleaned my face with olive oil I felt "EUREKA!" this is it. My skin felt nourished and as if a twenty year battle had finally ended. It was like my entire psyche and every cell in my body knew that I had hit upon relief and I felt GRAND HOPE for the future of my skin.

The next morning I woke up and my skin looked better than it had in ages. Next day, same thing. Day after day, my skin was looking better and better. No new blemishes and the old ones were healing.

And then...about a month into my OCM program... blemishes. Except, I knew they were just the tiny nodules that had most likely been there for YEARS finally being opened and released. Maybe because my skin had been so bad for so long and I had scrutinized it and knew every new bump and every buried bump that allowed me to be reassured that this was what was happening. So I had to kind of weather having "new" blemishes again. But they weren't really new. My skin was RELEASING and purging old nodules and bumps that had almost begun to look like scars they were so hardened and buried beneath my skin.

Believe me, I understand the resistance to trying something that might make your skin "worse". Trust your intuition. I believe you will know if the OCM is causing "new" breakouts or if it is just clearing deep and long held toxins from your skin.

I also realize that if you've been battling your skin for a long time, you're probably very resistant to the idea of applying oil to your face. Especially since so much misinformation and advertising has us believing that "oil free" is the answer.

It's not.

The skin naturally produces oil as a lubricant. It is necessary to keep the skin healthy and functioning well.

TOO OILY
In the initial phase of OCM, your skin may be ridiculously too oily.

One, your skin is adjusting and will balance out.

Two, you may not be removing the oil from your skin well after using it. Try the steamy wash cloth.

Three, you may not be using the best blend of oils for your skin type.

TOO DRY

Oddly, enough, the wrong blend or choice of oil for your OCM may dry your skin. Castor oil and olive oil may be too drying for some people. Adjust your blend accordingly.

CAN I STILL WEAR MAKEUP?
Yes! In the initial phase this may be as disastrous as your skin may be too oily. My suggestion is to begin the OCM over the weekend or where you have a couple of days to figure it out.

But yes, your makeup will actually look prettier than it did before because your skin will almost feel like it has a primer, without using a primer.

You may have to adjust your foundation once your skin rebalances itself. If you were using foundation for "oily" skin, you may find your skin is actually "normal" after success of OCM.

Also, most oils can be used as a makeup remover as well as a cleanser. So be sure you don't leave residual oil on your face and eyes or you will look very smeared. lol.

Sunscreen

If you're like me, what used to make me break out the worst was sunscreen. Now I don't know if most sunscreens would still affect me the same way because I am not willing to risk it.

After much research, what I came up with was the best sunscreen is Zinc Oxide. Zinc oxide is not absorbed into the skin and blocks both UVA (320-400 nm) and UVB (280-320 nm) rays of ultraviolet light. Because zinc oxide is not absorbed into the skin, it is nonirritating and nonallergenic.

Other new chemical sunscreens, not only made me break out but after researching I realized they actually seemed to be having the exact opposite effect I was looking for. Many chemical sunscreens, when degraded by UV light, actually form harmful ingredients that can cause damage to the skin!!

Zinc oxide does not do this. Plus Zinc Oxide is natural and even will help keep your skin heal.

But pure zinc oxide paste is very thick and a glowy white color---and well---- how much white, glowy goo can you put on your face before you start looking unattractive?

In my research I did find a recipe online for homemade sunscreen, which dilutes the zinc oxide yet still contains only healthy ingredients:

http://littlehouseinthesuburbs.com/2009/01/homemade-sunscreen.html

However, as I mentioned, I can be somewhat lazy when it comes to these kinds of things so I did the next best thing. After searching and searching for a sunscreen that had the least amount of offensive chemicals and the most amount of zinc oxide, I came up empty handed. However quite by accident, while researching zinc oxide on the Internet, I stumbled upon an Internet page that talked about diaper creme. Many diaper cremes contain zinc oxide. So I found a diaper creme with ONLY 10% zinc oxide (the minimum percentage that you would want to go out in the sun with and still expect any amount of protection and even then I would still wear a hat) and very few other ingredients...aloe vera, shea butter and a tiny bit of mineral oil. (I know, people have their doubts about mineral oil but it is a small amount and also didn't pose a problem for me.)

So until I find a better alternative, I have been using diaper creme. (Read the ingredients to find the best one. Some won't be suitable and some smell unattractive.)

Last but not least

One can't just move for beauty from the outside in.

Beauty also comes from being healthy. Spritually, mentally, physically healthy.

Eat well, exercise, get the proper nutrients. Create a life for yourself that you enjoy. Surround yourself with people you love and who love you. And get in touch with your deep, profound, true worthiness.

Any physical manifestation has an underlying energy imbalance that came first. So before the skin disorder, there was a chronic thought pattern and emotional set-point(resentment? fear? complaining? powerlessness?) that was out of whack from perfect balance.

A way to get in touch with this is to take any chronic "problem" or troubling chronic situation in your life and ask yourself--- what does the manifestation / situation / "problem" FEEL like? When you think on your skin problem...what does it FEEL like? Can you label it? Do you feel unworthy? Ugly? Hopeless? Powerless?

Whatever it is, those feelings were in place BEFORE the skin disorder manifested. And that is what you want to work on. Easing those thoughts and feelings and finding relief from them. Finding new persepectives and ways of being that baby-step by baby-step turn those thoughts around.

For me, studying the law of attraction worked well.

Good luck. I hope this information has been helpful.

If you have had success with OCM, I would love for you to please comment and let people know. Or if you need clarification or have any questions about the oil cleaning method, please ask your question in the comments and I will respond.

Since this has been life changing for me, I feel passionate about sharing and passing the information along.

UPDATE

My current routine is to wash my face with Dr Bronner's castille liquid soap.

If I wore heavy makeup in the day I will also do the oil cleanse with the steamy wash cloth. (About three times a week. Otherwise I don't cleanse with the oil. But I still absolutely recommend it for people trying to get their skin condition under control and to maintenance level.)

As a night serum I use rosehip oil.

I only really use a light moisturizer around my eyes and mouth and it is all natural ingredients.

And that's it.

xoxo.

Let me know your progress!
